Classic selected as USA qualifying event The 2007 Hardy
Classic Sporting Clays tournament, at the Shooting Academy at Nemacolin
Woodlands Resort, has been selected as a qualifying event for Team
USA by the National Sporting Clays Association.
Of the hundreds of NSCA-sanctioned events held annually, the Hardy
Classic is one of just 14 shoots deemed as mandatory by the NSCA
in order to attempt to qualify for Team USA. Among the other mandatory
events are the U.S. Open and the NSCA Nationals.
The Shooting Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands opened in October of
1999, and quickly became recognized as one of the premiere sporting
clays facilities in the nation. Academy director Mike Mohr said
the combination of a world class facility, highly trained and NSCA
certified staff and the Academy's track record of staging events
led to being selected by the NSCA.
Robert Crow, shooting academy manager, said attracting a qualifying
shoot is testament to the academy's staff's hard work.
"Everyone here works very hard every day to provide the best
facility for Sporting Clays enthusiasts, whether they're a seasoned
professional or a first time shooter," Crow said. "We
are also well known for setting very difficult yet fair courses
for sanctioned events that truly test the skills of the best shooters
in the world."
Team USA qualifying shoots generally attract more than 400 shooters.
The 2007 Hardy Classic will cover three days. The preliminary event
takes place on Aug. 17, with the main event Aug. 18-19.
The Shooting Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands also hosts five other
NSCA sanctioned events annually, which are the Bad Clay Challenge,
Wild Turkey Bourbon Shoot, Joe Hardy Pro-Am, Joe Hardy Invitational
and the Laurel Highlands Winter Shoot. |
